Mirror Like Wisdom
“We are the mirror as well as the face in it.
We are tasting the taste this minute
of eternity. We are pain
and what cures pain, both. We are
the sweet cold water and the jar that pours.”
“The meaning of devotion is that again and again we trust that the moment is enough; not under prepared or over prepared, but available. This makes us very soft because we start to trust…There isn’t anything to do except move into the situation.”
Reflections on reflections - camera practice
Photograph the same thing twice, once directly and once as a reflection (a window, puddle, tree, sky). What is the difference?
Photograph yourself in a reflection amongst other things. Are you a subject or an object?
Photograph a reflection that shows something unexpected (a tree in a puddle, a sky inside a building).
“Empty things, such as reflections depend on a collection of causes. It is not as though this were not well-known. From those empty reflections and so forth arise consciousnesses that bear their image. Similarly, even though all things are empty, from those empty things effects are definitely produced.”
